Día de Muertos From Cabo del Sol Comes Down to Monday Night

October 22, 2026

In Los Cabos, Día de Muertos runs from Saturday, October 31 through Monday, November 2, and a regular Friday evening at the Four Seasons the night before makes it a four-night weekend. For Cabo del Sol homeowners, Monday is the one night that forces a choice. Hacienda del Mar, at the community's own km 10 address, and Flora Farms both start their evenings at 6 p.m., and Altares en el Mar may fall the same night. Of those, Hacienda del Mar is the only one that offers a discount for local residents.

The weekend starts a short walk from home on Friday and spreads along the corridor on Saturday and Sunday, all leading up to that Monday overlap.

Friday starts inside the gate

The first evening has nothing to do with the holiday, and that works in its favor. Every Friday, Four Seasons Resort Cabo del Sol turns La Plaza, the center of its hacienda-style resort, into a small-town weekend scene. There is mariachi music, handmade treats plus Mexican wines and spirits at El Mercado, and work by local artists at El Taller Art Studio. The resort describes it as open to hotel guests, travelers passing through and Cabo del Sol residents alike.

This is the regular weekly program, not a Día de Muertos event. Still, October 30 is a Friday, so the weekend's first evening out happens about as close to home as it can. After the plaza, Four Seasons suggests a cocktail at the bar or dinner at one of its restaurants.

Ánima Village, next door, has holiday programming lined up for families. The tourism board's Spanish-language guides list an outdoor movie, a traditional altar, sugar-skull painting workshops, face painting and Halloween-themed drinks and candy. Neither guide gives a date or time. Ánima's official agenda currently ends with Sunset Breathwork on October 29 at 6 p.m. If kids or grandkids are visiting, check that page again before the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday pull you down the corridor

On Saturday, October 31, the action moves to km 7. Esperanza is hosting its 10th Annual EsperanzArte Festival starting at 5 p.m. Expect altars throughout the property, handmade work from local artisans, and food stalls from COMAL, Tres Gallos, Metrizal and Don Sanchez. This year's guest chefs are Cody Bryan Requejo, a Los Angeles sushi chef and Director of Culinary at Seremoni, and Yvan Mucharraz, Culinary Experiences Director at Chileno Bay Resort and Residences. Both will serve fish dishes.

The catch is timing. Esperanza offered specialty pricing through October 26, and its ticket page was counting down to the end of online sales around that same date. By the time you read this, the online window may have closed, so check with Esperanza directly before you plan Saturday around it.

On Sunday, November 1, you head the other way to downtown Cabo San Lucas. The Sea of Offerings fills Plaza Amelia Wilkes from 5 to 10 p.m. with live music, food vendors and decorations, according to Visit Los Cabos. The tourism board's Spanish-language guide says the event, called Mar de Ofrendas in Spanish, is organized by the Asociación de Empresarios de Los Cabos and is free. Of the four evenings, Sunday is the one with no ticket, no reservation and no deadline.

Monday stacks the big evenings on top of each other

November 2 is the day most closely tied to remembrance, and this year Los Cabos packs it full. Each of these options offers something different, so the right pick depends on what you want from the evening.

  1. Hacienda del Mar, inside Cabo del Sol. The resort's Enchanted Day of the Dead Celebration runs 6 to 10 p.m. with a traditional Mexican buffet, festive drinks, catrinas and live entertainment. Tickets are MXN 990 for adults and MXN 490 for children ages 5 to 12, with taxes and service included, and local residents get 15% off. Visit Los Cabos says the evening takes place in the Motor Lobby and asks guests to wear black and white. Reservations go through member services at (624) 145-6113.
  2. Flora Farms. The 10th Annual Day of the Dead Altar Competition also starts at 6 p.m. The farm's own page lists it until 10 p.m., while the Visit Los Cabos Day of the Dead page says 9 p.m. Each altar is built by a local business partnered with a charity it chose. The business's participation fee goes straight to that charity, and the top three altars win category prizes paid for by event sponsors. The evening also includes folkloric performances and live music, and tickets are sold through the farm's page. Flora Farms says the list of participating businesses will be announced closer to the date.
  3. Altares en el Mar. At the Cabo San Lucas marina, local boat owners decorate their boats with candles and marigolds and parade them across the water. Visit Los Cabos gives two different dates for it. Its October 8 guide puts the procession on the evening after Sunday's Sea of Offerings, which would be Monday. Its Day of the Dead events page lists it on Sunday, November 1, alongside the Day of the Dead Parade through Centro and Avenida Lázaro Cárdenas. Neither page gives a 2026 start time, so confirm the night before you plan your weekend around it.

Laid out side by side, the trade-offs are clear. Hacienda del Mar is the only option with a short drive home inside the gate, and the only one priced with locals in mind. Flora Farms is the only one where your ticket supports an altar-by-altar charity contest. Altares en el Mar is the only free one, and the only one held on the water. Hacienda del Mar and Flora Farms both start at 6 p.m., so on Monday most households will end up choosing one of them.

Monday also has a corridor factor that has nothing to do with the holiday. November 2 is the first day of World Wide Technology Championship week at El Cardonal in Diamante, with official play November 5 to 8. If you're juggling tournament plans that week too, an evening that keeps you inside Cabo del Sol is the easiest one to fit in.

What carries past November 2

The holiday weekend is also the start of the high-season calendar. Three days after Monday's altars, on Thursday, November 5, the San José del Cabo Art Walk begins its season. According to Visit Los Cabos, it runs every Thursday evening from November through June, with local artisans and folk art lining the town's main streets. The tourism board suggests carrying a little cash for the market stalls. That same weekend, tournament play is underway at Diamante.

Friday evenings at La Plaza Mágica keep running every week after the holiday, open to Cabo del Sol residents the same way they were on October 30.
